What’s the biggest challenge you’ve overcome in the warehouse, and how did you tackle it?
Change. I have been with this company for over 16 years, so there have been lots of changes. Some good, some, well, we all have our opinions. I have come to realize that not all hills are worth dying on. If you have a problem with change, you can read the book, Who Moved My Cheese? I didn’t read it, but they did give us all a copy some years ago to help. Going from 20-30 employees to approximately 100 we have now, doesn’t come without some growing pains.
What’s one aspect of the warehouse operations you’re particularly proud of?
Personally, it’s the knowledge and growth I have experienced through my time here. James and Mike had a lot of grace in my early years. I was eager to work hard and learn, but not always the best employee.
What’s your favorite part about working at Industrial Repair Service?
It would have to be the friendships I have made.
If you could go back to your first day here, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
Enjoy the good times because everything in life has a season.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Running our small family farm with my wife. We have cows, goats, donkeys, chickens, pigs and honeybees. We also have a YouTube channel.
What’s one thing most people here don’t know about you?
By the grace of God, I have been sober for 8 years.
If you had an extra hour in the day, how would you spend it?
Probably farm work.
What’s a hobby you’d like to try but haven’t had the chance to yet?
Dirt track racing or kite surfing.
We hope you enjoyed getting to know Travis a little better, and we look forward to sharing next month’s spotlight with you. Stay tuned!
