Employee Spotlight: Meet AJ Germano, Our Outside Sales Representative Based in CHI

At Industrial Repair Service (IRS), our team extends far beyond the walls of our facilities. Many of our employees spend their days building relationships, supporting customers, and traveling to better understand the industries we serve. This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on AJ Germano, our Outside Sales Representative based in Chicago.
As an Outside Sales Rep, AJ helps customers connect with repair solutions that keep equipment running and production moving. Whether he’s driving across his territory, talking with customers, or enjoying time outdoors, AJ approaches life with humor, perspective, and a people-first mindset.
Let’s get to know AJ a little better.
Meet AJ
Outside sales is a unique role that blends customer service, relationship-building, and problem-solving. Every day looks a little different, and that variety is part of what makes the position rewarding.
Before building a career in sales, however, AJ had a very different vision for his future.
Childhood Career Dreams
Like many of us, AJ had an idea growing up about what career path he might follow. When asked what he wanted to be as a kid, he shared:
“My dad was a CPA, so I thought that’s the route I would follow. Way too boring for me.”
While accounting may not have been the right fit, it’s safe to say AJ found a career that better matches his energy.
Life on the Road
One of the biggest differences AJ sees at IRS compared to previous workplaces is the opportunity to meet people across different regions. When asked what makes Industrial Repair Service stand out, he said:
“I spend a lot of time travelling, which is cool. I really like Wisconsin and the people!”
Life Outside of Work
When the workday ends, AJ enjoys outdoor activities. When asked what he’s most passionate about outside of work, he shared:
“Golfing and fishing. That takes up my free time for sure.”
Advice That Stuck
Sometimes the best advice is practical, sometimes it’s funny, and sometimes it’s both. When asked about the best advice he’s ever received, AJ answered:
“I was told as a kid to NEVER eat yellow snow. It’s never left my mind.”
What Drives Him
For AJ, motivation comes from helping others. When asked what motivates him, he shared:
“Helping people in a time of need.”
That mindset aligns closely with the work IRS does every day. When equipment fails or production is interrupted, customers often need quick answers and reliable support. Having team members who genuinely care about helping people makes a meaningful difference.
Strengths That Matter
AJ believes there are several qualities that help him perform well in his role. When asked what he’s especially good at when it comes to his job, he said:
“Being punctual, respectful, and knowledgeable.”
Advice for Future Sales Professionals
Breaking into any field takes effort and patience, and outside sales is no exception. When asked what advice he would give someone trying to enter the field, AJ shared:
“Put in the work and trust the process.”
The Little Things That Matter
Sometimes it’s the small moments that have the biggest impact. When asked what instantly makes any day better, AJ said:
“Making someone’s day better with kind words. I’m pretty sure a hug does the same thing to someone in need.”
His answer reflects a people-first perspective and a belief that kindness matters, both inside and outside the workplace.
A Valued Part of the IRS Team
AJ’s role as an Outside Sales Representative helps customers feel supported and connected to the IRS team. His humor, reliability, and commitment to helping others make him a valued member of the company.
We hope you enjoyed getting to know AJ a little better, and we can’t wait to share next month’s spotlight with you. Stay tuned!
