Meet Madeline!

What’s your favorite thing about Industrial Repair Service?

My favorite thing about Industrial Repair Service is the friendships I’ve made over the years. Work would not be the same without them.

How do you inspire yourself to work hard each day?

My family inspires me every day. I am a wife and a mother of two. My daughter is in kindergarten and my son is under a year old, and they are always keeping me on my toes. Being a mother, having to work and take care of babies when they’re sick is hard, but it makes me want to prove myself even more.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding” -Proverbs 3:5

What is one skill or hobby you’ve always wanted to learn but haven’t had the chance to yet?

I have really found joy in baking. I am not a cook, but baking is so fun and can be so rewarding. I learned how to make sandwich bread from scratch. I’ve made muffins, biscuits, banana bread, and a pie or two. If I had more time, I would love to experiment with cakes and desserts.

What is one important lesson or piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

Study the Bible and put God first in everything.

When it comes to your job, what’s one thing you’re good at?

I like to think I’m pretty good at surface mount soldering. It’s so satisfying to solder an IC with the tiniest pins and make it look like it came straight from the manufacturer.

How did you transition into being a repair technician?

I started at IRS in the Parts Department helping Lola order parts for the outside shops. After a few months, I took an interest in learning how to repair because I have always been more of a hands-on type of worker. I asked our shop manager what he thought about me joining the shop, and here we are two and a half years later!

Have you ever mentored or been mentored by someone in your field? How did that experience impact you?

I have been mentored by nearly everyone in the shop, and they all have different ways of attacking their work. There are different techniques for soldering or even the order of how you troubleshoot a board. Each person has something different to give to the shop, and I owe it to all of them for the technician I have become.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?

Being able to relax in a clean house and take a nap.
