Employee Spotlight: Meet Inman Shane, Electronics Intern at Industrial Repair Service

This month, we’re excited to spotlight Inman Shane, our Electronics Intern based at our headquarters.
Let’s get to know him a little better.
Meet Inman
As an Electronics Intern, Inman works alongside our electronics team to learn the fundamentals of industrial repair. Every repair presents a new challenge and an opportunity to better understand how components work together to keep manufacturing equipment running.
Learning the Fundamentals
One of the things Inman enjoys most about his internship is deepening his knowledge of printed circuit boards (PCBs).
When asked what he’s most excited to learn during his internship, he shared:
“I am most excited to learn how major components on PCBs function both individually and together to create a working system. As I learn more with each job I receive, I get better at diagnosing and solving faults, which I find extremely satisfying.”
Music That Keeps Him Focused
Whether working on a repair or concentrating on a detailed task, having the right background music can make a difference.
When asked what he likes to listen to while working, Inman shared:
“I mainly listen to rap, and I enjoy rock every now and then. During my internship this summer, though, I’ve really enjoyed listening to the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s radio station that plays in the shop while I work.”
Weekends Off the Clock
Outside of work, Inman enjoys his weekends by pursuing hobbies that allow him to relax while still putting his hands to use.
When asked about his favorite way to spend a weekend, he said:
“My favorite way to spend a weekend when I’m not working is playing video games or watching TV shows. I also find myself working on my car most weekends, whether it’s maintenance or customization’s.”
Advice That Has Stayed With Him
Sometimes the best lessons come long before entering the workforce.
When asked about the best advice he’s ever received from a teacher or mentor, Inman shared:
“The best piece of advice I have ever received is something my mom has instilled in me my entire life: ‘Nothing good ever comes without hard work.’ That lesson is something I strive to live by every day because I know it worked for her.”
A Fun Fact That Surprises People
Everyone has a unique skill, and Inman’s combines patience, precision, and craftsmanship, all qualities that also serve him well in electronics repair.
When asked to share a fun fact about himself, he said:
“Before working here, I made money by sharpening people’s knives. Knife sharpening is a surprisingly uncommon hobby that I got into a couple of years ago through my love of pocket knives. Over time, I perfected my craft and am now able to make extra money doing something I genuinely enjoy.”
Learning from the Team
A successful internship is about more than learning technical skills. It’s also about working with experienced professionals who are willing to share their knowledge.
When asked what he’s enjoyed most about interning with Industrial Repair Service, Inman shared:
“I have really enjoyed working alongside my extremely friendly colleagues, including Tommy, Brendon, and Sam. They always answer any questions I have about the jobs I’m working on and are always happy to teach me something new.”
Looking Beyond the Horizon
Although Inman doesn’t consider himself a frequent traveler, there are still places he’d love to experience one day.
When asked about a dream trip, he shared:
“I’m not a huge traveler, but I would love to see more of the world outside the United States, especially places like London or Tokyo. I think it would be amazing to see with my own eyes the places that I’ve only ever imagined.”
A Promising Start
Internships are an opportunity to build a foundation, and Inman has already shown a strong willingness to learn, ask questions, and continue developing his skills. As he gains more experience with PCB diagnostics and industrial electronics, we’re excited to see how his career develops and what he’ll accomplish in the future.
