Employee Spotlight: Getting to Know Brenden Yanev, Assistant Shop Manager

At Industrial Repair Service, our success is powered by the people behind the repairs. This month, we’re proud to highlight Assistant Shop Manager, Brenden Yanev, a team member whose technical skill, leadership, and attitude make a measurable impact every day.

Nominated by Shop Manager Tommy Duckworth, Brenden has become a key part of our operations, helping keep repairs moving, customers supported, and the shop running efficiently. Outside of work, he’s entering an exciting new chapter; He’s preparing for his upcoming wedding (officiated by our very own [Duckworth]). At the same time, his fiancée begins her career in psychiatry at Northeast Georgia.

With big milestones ahead, both personally and professionally, now is the perfect time to get to know the person behind the role.

Looking Ahead

With a wedding and career opportunities ahead, Brenden is looking forward to what’s next, especially the chance to experience something new with his fiancée.

When asked about a bucket list item they’re excited to tackle together, he shared:

“Something we’ve always wanted to do was international travel, so we’ll be putting a lot of effort into planning a vacation outside of North America!”

Shop Culture That Stands Out

The shop environment at IRS is fast-paced and demanding, but it’s also built on strong teamwork and camaraderie. For Brenden, the people he works with every day are what make the biggest difference.

When asked what he enjoys most about the culture, he said:

“Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever worked with a more hilarious group of people. I almost always have a good laugh before the end of the day, which always makes the work go by faster.”

A Life Across the Map

Brenden’s background includes experiences from across the country, something many people may not expect.

When asked to share a fun fact, he said:

“I’ve lived in over six states throughout my life. From as far north as Michigan to the southern border of Oklahoma!”

How He Spends His Time Off

One of Brenden’s favorite ways to spend a day off is simple and intentional.

He shared:

“When I’m visiting Rachel in Columbus, I always like to get a drink at a local coffee shop and take a walk along the Chattahoochee Riverwalk.”

A Commitment to Continuous Learning

Working in industrial repair requires constant learning, whether it’s new equipment, new processes, or new problem-solving approaches. When asked what has helped him succeed, he said:

“Something I always try to do is learn something new every day. It could be something small, like remembering where certain parts are kept, but over time, I think it has helped me grow into the technician I am today.”

A Repair That Stands Out

One of the most rewarding parts of working at IRS is seeing the direct impact of a successful repair. For Brenden, one experience stands out as a proud moment in his career.

He shared:

“One of my proudest achievements would probably be when I flew down to Nebraska to get a customer’s drive running that they had been having issues with for months. I re-programmed their drive (which another company was unable to do) and saw them get everything running that same day.”

Words to Live By

For Brenden, one simple principle has stayed with him, and when asked about the best advice he’s received, he said:

“I’m not particularly religious, but I’ve always believed that ‘do to others as you would have them do to you’ is a great rule to live by.”

Looking to the Future

As Brenden continues to grow in his role, he’s focused on expanding his technical capabilities.

When asked about a work-related goal this year, he shared:

“Something I’d really like to achieve is to get more robotics expertise and training so I can finally start doing more with the FANUC robots!”

Brenden’s role as Assistant Shop Manager is essential to keeping operations running smoothly. Whether he’s tackling a difficult repair, supporting the shop, or sharing a laugh with coworkers, Brenden brings value to IRS every day.
