4 Surprising Facts About Industrial Repair Service
Every week, we publish blogs that share practical tips and maintenance tricks to extend the lifespan of your equipment. Yet, we rarely pause to talk about ourselves and the people behind the bench.
While you might know us as your go-to technical partner for complex component rebuilds, there is a rich history behind our operations that spans over three decades. Here are four fun facts about Industrial Repair Service (IRS) that you might not have known and that continue to make us the company we are today.

1. We Service Everyone from Fortune 500s to Local Mom-and-Pop Shops
We frequently talk about our wide diagnostic scope, whether handling servo motor rebuilds or drive calibrations, but something you may not know is the sheer variety of businesses we partner with every day.
Since opening our doors, we have taken on clients with manufacturing plants of every shape and size. Our technical team supports local, family-owned shops right here in Georgia as well as massive Fortune 500 facilities across the country.
From plastics injection blow molding to high-volume food and beverage production, our technicians know how to handle nearly every major component brand in existence. No matter the scale or complexity of your facility, we deliver the exact same high standard of care to every single repair that comes through our shops.
2. It All Started with a Garage, and a Handshake Between Mike & James
Back in 1991, James Doyle founded Industrial Repair Service with a vision for better, more reliable technical care. Three years later, in 1994, James met 24-year-old Mike Yard during a routine sales call.
At the time, Mike was already making a name for himself as a top sales representative at PSI. The two clicked almost instantly over their shared passion for hands-on repair work and solving complex mechanical problems.
A couple of months later, Mike landed a major repair order that caught James’s attention. A lunch followed, and by the end of that meeting, they shook hands on what would become a decades-long partnership.
What started in a small garage is now a nationwide company known for solving the toughest manufacturing challenges with skill and persistence. Today, James and Mike continue to lead IRS with that same founding philosophy: do the work right, care for the customer, and never lose the scrappy, hardworking edge that started it all.
3. We Are Truly an Authentic Family-Run Business
Industrial Repair Service takes immense pride in maintaining a genuine, close-knit family culture across every department. With James Doyle serving as CEO and President, several members of the next generation work directly alongside him to propel the business forward:
- Ashley Doyle (Director of Marketing): Ashley joined IRS in 2021 after earning her Bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Alabama and gaining experience at an advertising agency. She turns big operational ideas into engaging campaigns that make marketing approachable and fun. Outside the office, her priorities lie with her family, her cats, and Alabama football, along with exploring the vibrant streets of Atlanta.
- Timmy Doyle (Territory Support): Timmy Doyle, James’s brother, has been with IRS since day one: when records were scribbled on paper ledgers, and only a single other technician was on call. From outside sales to inside sales, to hitting the road and training new hires, Timmy has done it all over the course of the company’s history.
- James Doyle Jr. (Outside Sales Representative): James Jr. joined the IRS team in 2025, serving customers across Georgia and Alabama. He spends his days meeting with plant managers, picking up specialized equipment for repair, and sharing the full scope of what IRS has to offer. Before joining the family business full-time, he worked with Industrial Repair Service as a parts assistant for a few years, and afterwards in the food industry. He often spent his free time traveling to see his favorite musical artists at concerts nationwide, a jet-setting passion he continues today while living near company headquarters.
4. Our Team Has Grown to Over 100 Employees Nationwide
Industrial Repair Service has continually evolved to meet the growing demands of modern manufacturing. Today, our family includes between 100 and 150 dedicated team members spanning from Philadelphia to Los Angeles.
Every single individual at IRS is deeply valued. Each technician, sales representative, and customer service specialist contributes significantly to our collective success and reinforces the welcoming, family-first atmosphere we cherish every day.
